From the recording Freshman 61
This one is also kind of autobiographical for me, because for many years, I hid my heart. Still do at times - it seems to be a bit of a default mechanism for coping with stress or anxiety.
Sometimes it's so easy to crawl inside the shell and hide yourself from life, but is that really living life? If there's a chance to renew your life, do you take it? I often need to look at this lyric and say yep - this is what I am doing and I need to turn it around and embrace life no matter what it throws at me! - Matt
Lyrics
You crawl inside your shell
You hide yourself from life
Too many broken feelings
Have cut so deep inside
Where do you hide your heart
Where do you hide your heart
Where do you hide your heart
Where do you hide your heart
Friends and foes seem all the same
They’re tearing at your mind
Where do you turn, who do you trust
You’re building walls on every side
Where do you hide your heart
Where do you hide your heart
Where do you hide your heart
Where do you hide your heart
If there’s a chance for you to renew your life
Do you take it
Do you take it
Unlock the treasures that are waiting inside
Do you take it
You’ve got to take it
You locked your heart in prison
You threw away the keys
You hide the hurt so well inside
No one will ever see
Where do you hide your heart
Where do you hide your heart
Where do you hide your heart
Where do you hide your heart
