Wildlive is a songwriting project that essentially started over 45 years ago, but the dream was only realised after a life changing medical drama. 

In May 2024, and at 59 years of age, lyricist Matt Halloran suffered a sudden aortic dissection that cut blood flow to his leg and kidneys, leading to four major surgeries, kidney failure, dialysis, and numerous blood transfusions. He ended up with 10 stent insertions during what turned out to be a pretty traumatic five-week hospital stay. 

Survival rates of aortic dissections are still quite low, and although left with lasting damage and reduced kidney function, Matt has gradually recovered to a point where he can quite miraculousy lead a reasonably normal life.

The concept of Wildlive was born out of the profound effect of Matt's medical experience on his life outlook. "I realised I could no longer live the status quo," Matt explains. "Something had to change. I had held onto all these creative ideas and talents that I buried so deep for so many years. Call it laziness, ignorance or whatever, but I can now no longer ignore that calling. Time is short, and it would be absolutely remiss of me not to give this a go while I still have life to live."

Wildlive is the culmination of over 40 years of original lyrics and songwriting concepts dating back to the mid 1980's. Matt himself has played guitar and cajon in a number of church bands, had a number of years with his own radio show, worked with record and music promotion companies, and staged a number of his own concert promotions.

Combining those ideas and experiences with new technologies (including AI), Matt has been able to hone his songwriting skills, partnering with the technology to produce a range of commercially viable, hit-worthy contemporary song packages in a range of musical styles. 

Although the concept is still in it's infancy, 3 full length albums have already been produced (including a full length Christmas album containing 18 original songs). 

Longer term, the hope and intension of the project is to continue to produce songs that can be taken on board and covered by other artists. To assist, Wildlive will also release a range of performance tracks and sheet music to encourage other artists to perform original Wildlive songs.
