From the recording Gotta Start Somewhere
Similar to "The Water Was Deep", this explores the theme of being lost in a world that doesn't know how to show or practice love, and yet the answer is there. Not with an agenda, not pushing a political view, but simply holding out His hand, waiting for you to take it so that He can lift us out of the muck and mire we find ourselves in.
Lyrics
The world is old, the times are getting dark,
Can you feel the beating of my heart?
Life exists, but truth is barely seen,
One to another, love is what we need.
Victims of the deeds of the ones who lived before,
We’re pressing on, but we keep on adding more.
Bad on bad can never make it good,
So many things we’ve never fully understood.
A light shines in the distance,
A friend holds out His hand.
Holding out His hand,
Holding out His hand,
When life is full of chaos,
And nothing like you planned.
He's still holding out His hand,
Holding out His hand.
Too many people hanging by a thread,
Suffering the lives that we’ve all led.
Soldiers in a war we cannot see,
There’s a battle here to set our spirits free.
A light shines in the distance,
A friend holds out His hand.
Holding out His hand,
Holding out His hand,
When life is full of chaos,
And it's nothing like you planned.
He's still holding out His hand,
Holding out His hand.
He's there for you
He'll see you through
Trust in Him
His Word is true
Holding out His hand,
Holding out His hand,
When life is full of chaos,
And nothing like you planned.
He's still holding out His hand,
Holding out His hand.
Holding out His hand
Holding out His hand
